Player Chatter: Week 10

June 28, 2023
By Matt Rezin

“Player Chatter” is a series consisting of player quotes, thoughts, and feelings from around the league. All current AUDL players were sent a handful of prompts earlier this week designed to be as open-ended as possible. Additionally, players were asked to vote in a single-question, multiple choice survey.

Week 10 Survey Results

Who's winning this Friday night, the DC Breeze or New York Empire?

DC Breeze: 23.1 percent of votes
New York Empire: 76.9 percent of votes

Week 9 Reactions

“Shout out to the officials, especially Blake of the Atlanta-Dallas game this weekend. People like to complain about the refs, but when they do a good job, we should be sure to recognize them. Best officiated game I’ve been a part of so far.” Jake Floyd, Dallas Legion

[Andrew] Sjogren with eight goals against his former team this weekend.” Jeremy Hill, Toronto Rush

“Called it, Colorado whoops up on Minnesota.” Kyle Henke, Austin Sol

“Minnesota reminding everyone that the Central Division doesn’t catch nearly enough flak as they should.” CJ Colicchio, Philadelphia Phoenix

“We made sure to wish Colorado a belated Happy Father's Day.” Josh Klane, Minnesota Wind Chill

Cody Spicer. That’s all I gotta say.” Connor Olson, Colorado Summit

“Four goals, four assists, and 350-plus receiving yards on the ‘Defensive Player of the Year.’ At some point we should start rethinking this Rookie of the Year conversation.” Max Gibson, San Diego Growlers

Keith McRae went off in Week 9. No turns and plus-10!” Jeremy Hill, Toronto Rush

“Maybe the delay on the stats is to blame, but Keith ‘havin' a day’ McRae getting no love on the Week 9 Honor Roll with eight goals, plus-10, no turns, and 498 total yards on Sunday feels wrong on a deep, instinctive level. Perhaps it's also a tribute to how much gravity James Lewis and Ty Barbieri carry with their defenders because Keith was out there racking up points from deep like an unguarded Ray Allen.” Jamie Millage, Toronto Rush

“Keith McRae is a certified dawg and handsome to boot.” CJ Colicchio, Philadelphia Phoenix

On To Week 10

“Nice to have a bye week, but ready to get back at it!” Kyle Henke, Austin Sol

“Salt Lake is going to crush San Diego.” Anonymous AUDL Player (verified)

“I’m gonna be so hopped up on creatine and Red Bull that I’m going to smash into little Osgar and destroy all the ionic bonds in his little body.” Jasper Tom, DC Breeze

“Parlay of the week: Empire, Thunderbirds, Shred, Summit, Rush, Alleycats, Summit, Soul, Shred, Phoenix” Anonymous AUDL Player (verified)

Water Cooler

“Montreal's shower game is on fire, quite literally—their three-spout shower head comes with a single button, and that button seems to be permanently stuck on ‘lava hot’ mode. I'm pretty positive this event will make Rowan's postseason Breeze documentary.” Rhys Bergeron, DC Breeze

“Will this be the first season with a zero-win team in each division?” Anonymous AUDL Player (verified)

“Third in the East is looking like a great battle!” Jeremy Hill, Toronto Rush
