The American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) has partnered with Lensa AI to create avatars for all players in the 2023 season. Lensa, made by Prisma Labs, was launched in 2018 and uses photos taken and uploaded by players to create stylistic, animated avatars. In the first-of-its-kind partnership across North American professional sports leagues, the avatars will be used in AUDL game broadcasts on Fox Sports 2 (FS2) and AUDL.tv, as well as digital integrations through the 2023 AUDL Championship.
“Avatars created through artificial intelligence represent a new opportunity for sports content,” said AUDL CEO Steve Hall. “We found an exciting way to use photos taken by our players and teams to create elevated graphics with Lensa. While we still have a lot to learn about this technology, I look forward to our league becoming a pioneer in this space.”
Lensa is an AI-powered photo and video editing app with professional retouching and object removal tools, music, a wide range of trendy effects and presets from famous photographers, sky and backgrounds replacement, and other design elements. The app is available in the App Store and the Google Play store.

The 2023 AUDL season started in late April, with teams playing six home and six road games over 13 weeks. The top three seeds in each of the four divisions (East, South, Central and West) will compete in the playoffs for a chance to win the 2023 AUDL Championship at TCO Stadium in Minnesota.
