Breeze at home Saturday as they face Philadelphia for the first time this season

July 28, 2021

The DC Breeze are back at Catholic University's Carlini Field this Saturday, July 31 at 6:00pm. They’ll take on the Philadelphia Phoenix for the first time this season.

The Breeze are coming off just their second loss of the season, falling to Atlanta two weeks ago 13-17. For DC, it was their lowest scoring output of the season, though they have a great chance to get back on track against a Phoenix team allowing the sixth-most points per game this season. The Breeze defeated the Phoenix in all three meetings in 2019 by an average of three goals per game.

One of the lone bright spots in their recent loss was the play of 21-year-old AJ Merriman. Merriman caught a rare Callahan against Atlanta and is a legit MVP candidate through the first eight weeks of the season; he’s turned 56 offensive touches into 12 assists, 10 goals, and 1,200 total yards of offense. He has also led the team defensively with 14 blocks, tied for sixth-most in the league.

Tickets for this game are available at the official team store.
